Is US immigration shutting down?

There have been many debates about immigration globally. In the US typically there are 65,000 spots available for H-B1 visas, yet during last year during the first two days there had been more than 130,000 applications. The question remains that as the US has become a Technologically Driven economy does 65,000 H-1B visas really fit the bill for a growing industry. Can the US maintain it lead it it cannot effectively recruit from abroad. There was of course Google stepping into the fray stating that :
“We would encourage Congress to significantly increase the annual cap of 65,000 H-1B visas, to a figure more reflective of the growth rate of our technology-driven economy.”
Immigration has not been bad for the US. looking at some of the high end staff that Google employs. Google has noted that for the development of Google News staff had been sourced from amongst others Canada, Iran and Switzerland. strange - not really.
1. Sergey Brin’s parents fled the Soviet Union in 1979 and they settled in the United State;
2. Laszlo Bock, the Vice President of human Resources fled Communist Romania.
The US has long since moved on from manufacturing and into the services and technological field.In order to not only stay in the lead but also to diversify the economy, clearly needs immigrants. See the full story of Google here.
